How to choose dc power supply?
To select dc power supply has three requirements:
1, Meet the specifications required by plating process, including dc power supply power, waveform index, adjustable current and voltage range, etc.;
2, DC power supply itself reliability power supply, which mainly refers to structure reasonable, security and line features, cooling methods;
3, DC power supply cost performance.
Determine what kind of DC power supply suitable for you:
Determining plating type and and what kind of dc power supply the plating tanks shall use is the implementation and the first important work in electroplating production. There are 2 methods to determine suitable dc power supply in the actual plating production:
One: according to plating liquid solution to determine volume current density;
Two: calculated according to the plating area to get plating current density per unit.
The so-called volume current density, it is based per liter of plating solution allowed to pass maximum current to adjust entire plating tank current intensity, to determine the maximum power supply output and the conventional output.
Example for choosing DC power supply:
Copper is generally 0.2 ~ 0.3A/L;
Nickel is 0.1 ~ 2.5A/L;
Bright nickel plating is 0.3 ~ 0.35A/L;
Acid zinc is A/L;
Alkaline zinc up to 1.2 A/L;
Chrome is A/L.
Bright nickel plating as case shows, 600L bath maximum process current up to 0.3A/L × 600L = 180A, so choose 200A DC power supply is just fine.
If according to plating area volume also can calculate the max. current.
We take chrome plating as case: if it is 600L plating bath, at 60 ℃, maximum current density of 100A/dm2, the plating tank at full load setting as 10dm2, then the power required maximum output current of 100A/dm2 × 10dm2 = 1000A, that is, 1000A DC power supply, 18V rectifier power supply.
After determining power of DC power supply. Also need consider plating technical treatment process requirements and plating site condition to select waveform, cooling method, volume size, and corrosion resistance, etc., including cost factors.
